   Z-value can be defined in several ways e.g. the number of degrees Fahrenheit or Centigrade (Celsius) required for a thermal death time curve to traverse 1 log cycle. Note it is the number of degrees in the appropriate temperature scale that is required rather than the actual temperature. The 9/5 is an adaption of the normal equation for converting F to C.

	Welcome back and thanks for posting in the forum. You want to convert a z-value in Celsius to a z-value in Fahrenheit? I presume that you have converted say 10° C to 50° F? This is probably where you are going wrong. You cannot convert z-values in the normal way you convert from one temperature measurement system to another. In your case you need to convert a change in the number of Celsius degrees to Fahrenheit degrees by multiplying by 9/5. I have attached a screen shot of how to do this very simple calculation using a spreadsheet.
