Hi whats actualky wrong with your baby?

Normally the feed would be frozen or chilled until testing. Testing do not use Meth Blue!  Need to find out how many bacteria in formula. Plate count onto agar to pick up spoloiage and food poisioning  bacteria. Pay someone to help you!

I agree with siteowner. Start with assumption you caused problem due to hygience etc.

Trust me, I am aware of the personal contamination issues and only want to ease my own mind first without seeking expensive answers. I searched "characteristics of spoiled milk" and that is what I was looking for! I found an article about using Meth Blue to test for bacteria. Takes up to 8 hours, but I might try it. I guess you would have to know how it feels to have a preemie who is throwing up everything and losing weight to understand my need for answers. In any event thanks for the resources, I am sure they will help me. Thx.

Thank you,

I am seeking professional advice. I just wanted to know a test at home I could perform prior to awaiting such advice, like I said, if someone could give me the normal pH of milk is what I was looking for, or maybe that soured milk contained certain bacteria, knowledge that is already published that I could research, not any professional legal advice. That way I could research further while awaiting contacting from necessary professionals which is time consuming and as the milk is open is a time sensitive issue. For example, if it were bacteria I could be working on taking a sample to the lab for personal review. In any event. Thanks.

I regret that for legal and other reasons I am limited in my response to you.

1. There should not be an off flavour, smell or anything untoward associated with formula milk used for infant feeding; such milk should not be given to a child.

2. Immediate  referral of  your son to an appropriately qualified medical practitioner along with a sample of the formula milk is warranted.

3. It is unlikely that you will gain anything by investigating this matter yourself. If you obtain medical advice to support your concerns and wish to take this matter further you may need to employ specialist legal help and the services of a suitably qualified food scientist.

I sincerely hope that your son is OK.

I also regret that it would not be appropriate for me to respond further on this matter.

Hey guys, I just ran across this site on Google. I am anxious to find different ways to test my son's infant formula. I noticed a strong smell from it weeks ago and brushed it off as normal as it is 'concentrated.' However he has been sick since starting it and after eliminating different factors I was considering the milk and then today his daycare said that it seems spoiled! I want to know scientific ways that may even hold up in court to determine if this milk is indeed spoiled as many bottles have had this different strong smell, even his nasal drainage and BM.  Perhaps I could test with pH paper? I know this is not what usually comes across this board, but any help would be much appreciated. Thanks :)
